These symbols have historical and philosophical significance and were originally printed on cloth which Asante royals wore on important occasions. Since its origins of appearing on cloth, adinkra symbols are now often seen on sculptures, buildings, and furniture, among others. Each symbol represents a unique value and is used in giving advice and imparting morals.
